President Joseph A. Colangelo
Joe started his career with the New York City Department of Sanitation in 1981 as a Senior Auto Service worker and a member of SEIU NYC Local 246 and in 1984 was promoted to Auto Mechanic. He became a Union Shop Steward in 1991 and was elected Union Trustee in 1994.
He served on the Union’s Bylaws Committee. In 2003, he was elected the Union’s Vice President, and in 2004 upon the retirement of President James Hughes, Joe assumed the office of the President. In 2006, was first elected as President, a position he has held since. He is currently Administrator of the Union’s Welfare Fund, Trustee of both the Active and Retiree Funds, and Administrator of the Union’s Annuity Fund, as well as Trustee.
Joe is Vice Chair of the New York City Municipal Labor Committee; Recording Secretary for the New York State Public Employee Conference; Treasurer of the Italian American Labor Council; and a member of the New York City Department of Sanitation Columbia Association.
Joe grew up in Queens, New York. He attended Aviation High School and Teterboro School of Aeronautics receiving an Aircraft, Airframe and Power Plant license. He also obtained his Private Pilot’s license in 1999. He has been the recipient of numerous honors for his commitment to the labor movement.
Vice President Anthony Reyes
Anthony Reyes started his career as a Senior Auto Service Worker on September 11, 1987, at Health & Hospital Corp., which eventually merged into FDNY. He was promoted to Auto Mechanic on November 25, 1991. Anthony has been a Shop Steward since 2006 for FDNY. He also is a member of the Local 246 By-Laws Committee, and has been a member of the Union’s Negotiating Committee for last two contracts. He is a Trustee for both the Active and Retiree Welfare Funds and was recently appointed as a Trustee for the Annuity Fund. On June 1, 2014, Anthony was selected as the Union’s Recording Secretary. On September 1, 2018, he was appointed as the Vice President to fulfill the remaining term in the open position.
Recording Secretary Jason Vetter
Jason Vetter started his career at the NYC Sanitation Department on September 25, 2000. In 2003, he was transferred to Queens Borough Shop and was first elected Shop Steward on May 16, 2011; he was re-elected for a second time on April 1, 2016. On January 18, 2018 he was appointed Union Trustee to fill the remainder of the term vacated by the previous Trustee. Throughout his career, Jason has always been active with Local 246, regularly attending union meetings and rallies, as well as participating in the annual Labor Day Parade. Jason currently serves as Trustee on both the Active and Retiree Welfare Funds, Trustee of the Annuity Fund, ,and member of the Unions Bylaws Committee, the Union’s Election Committee, and the Union’s Contract Negotiating Committee. On September 1, 2018, he was appointed as the Union’s Recording Secretary to fulfill the remaining term in the open position.
Treasurer Raymond S. Schacor
Ray started with NYC Dept of Sanitation in 1981 as an Auto Mechanic. He began his union involvement after being elected as a Shop Steward in the mid 80s. In 1990 he ran for position of Union Trustee and won. He held that position for 12 years. From 2002 until present, he has been Secretary Treasurer, which enables him to keep a close eye on the Union’s finances, making sure that members’ dues are spent in the most effective and efficient manner possible. Along with his lengthy Union career as a representative, Ray also presently holds appointed positions as: Welfare Fund Trustee (Active & Retiree); Annuity Fund Trustee; and Representative for Union Contract Negotiations Committee and Bylaw Committee.
Sentinel Salvatore Brucculeri
Sal Brucculeri is a union guy through and through. While still in Automotive High School, he worked part time in the Parks Department in a program that allowed him to attend classes one week and work the other week. He did this until he graduated from Automotive in 1985. Not only did this afford him real-life work experience, but also gave him an introduction to the union. For the following two years, from 1986-1988, Sal was a Provisional Senior Auto Service Worker at the Department of Sanitation. Following, he was an Auto Service Worker in both Sanitation and DEP until 1997. Since that time, Sal has been an Auto Mechanic at Sanitation. During his time as a Local 246 member, he started attending union meetings to gain knowledge and understanding of how the union works and what it offers to members. Seeing the benefits of being involved, Sal became a Shop Steward in October 2012. Since 2015, Sal has been actively involved in making sure Local 246 has a strong participation in the annual NYC Labor Day Parade. He was appointed by the Executive Board in January 2018 as Sentinel.
Trustee Stanley Pirpinias
Stanley began working for the NYPD FSD in December 2000. He started as an Auto Mechanic in CRS in Queens before moving to Shop #3 in Brooklyn in 2001. He was elected Shop Steward for the Brooklyn, Manhattan & Staten Island repair shops in late 2012. Stanley also has served on the Union’s Negotiating Committee. He was appointed a Trustee in March 2016.
Trustee Ed Wojcik
Ed Wojcik was hired as a Machinist by the New York City Board of Education in May 1998. He was elected as a Shop Steward for Department of Education Citywide in 2006. During his tenure as a Shop Steward, Ed represented members in resolving conflicts with an eye for fairness. He served on the Union’s Negotiating Committee for the current contract and was appointed as a Trustee in September 2016. Ed has always been a committed member and a participant of the Union.
Trustee Jeff Blond
Jeff Blond started his career in April 2007 as an Auto Electrician with the New York City Department of Sanitation, CRS 4th floor Electric Shop and has been there ever since. Shortly thereafter, Jeff became very interested in the workings of the Union that represented him and started attended regular membership meetings and partaking in various events such as the annual Labor Day Parade and labor rallies. His determination to learn more and get involved led him to run for Shop Steward, a position he has held since 2009. In addition, he has served on the Union’s Election Committee. Jeff was appointed by the Executive Board in October 2018 to serve the remaining term for the Trustee #3 position.
Business Agent Thomas Graziano
Tom started his career as a Carriage Upholsterer. He was employed with the Department of Parks and Recreation in March 1973. He was elected Shop Steward in 1989 and served in that capacity until his retirement from City service in November 1996. During this period, he was appointed Welfare Fund Trustee and continues in this capacity. Upon his retirement, he was hired on a part-time basic to help fight privatization in the Department of General Services and Department of Parks. In 2001, he was asked to work full time for the Union.
