Jason Vetter started his career at the NYC Sanitation Department on September 25, 2000. In 2003, he was transferred to Queens Borough Shop and was first elected Shop Steward on May 16, 2011; he was re-elected for a second time on April 1, 2016. On Jan. 18, 2018 he was appointed Union Trustee to fill the remainder of the term vacated by the previous Trustee. Throughout his career, Jason has always been active with Local 246, regularly attending union meetings and rallies, as well as participating in the annual Labor Day Parade. Jason currently serves as Trustee on both the Active and Retiree Welfare Funds, Trustee of the Annuity Fund, and member of the Unions Bylaws Committee, the Union’s Election Committee, and the Union’s Contract Negotiating Committee. On Sept. 1, 2018, he was appointed as the Union’s Recording Secretary to fulfill the remaining term in the open position. On June 17, 2021, Jason assumed the role of Secretary-Treasurer after being appointed by the President and consented to by the Executive Board to fill the remaining term of that position upon the retirement of Raymond Schacor.
